Description

Manual Site Access Barrier Hire

Our site access barrier hire service provides a practical way to control vehicle access to construction sites, compounds, yards and other restricted entrances without purchasing a barrier outright.

These manually operated raise-arm barriers use gas-assisted dampers to assist with raising and lowering the barrier arm, making them suitable for locations where site personnel regularly control vehicle movements.

Barrier lengths are available from 3m to 7m, including 0.5m increments, so you can select a length appropriate for the width and layout of your site entrance.

Available Site Access Barrier Hire Sizes

Our manual barriers are available to hire in the following lengths:

  • 3m Site Access Barrier
  • 3.5m Site Access Barrier
  • 4m Site Access Barrier
  • 4.5m Site Access Barrier
  • 5m Site Access Barrier
  • 5.5m Site Access Barrier
  • 6m Site Access Barrier
  • 6.5m Site Access Barrier
  • 7m Site Access Barrier

Measure the entrance you need to control before selecting a barrier. The appropriate length should provide suitable coverage across the access point while allowing for correct installation and operation.

Site Access Barriers for Construction Sites

Manual barriers are particularly useful at construction sites where vehicle access is controlled by site personnel.

Typical applications include:

  • Construction site entrances
  • Building site compounds
  • Storage compounds
  • Industrial yards
  • Contractor entrances
  • Delivery access points
  • Private access roads
  • Restricted vehicle areas

The barrier provides a clearly defined physical control point. It can be lowered when vehicle access needs to be restricted and raised when authorised vehicles need to enter or leave the site.

Gas-Assisted Manual Operation

Our manual site access barriers use gas-assisted dampers to assist with raising and lowering the barrier arm.

Ergonomic grip handles and the gas-assisted mechanism allow the barrier to be operated with a one-handed movement.

Because the barrier is manually operated, an electrical supply is not required for normal raising and lowering. This makes it particularly useful for temporary construction sites and compounds where an automated access-control system is unnecessary.

Locking the Site Access Barrier

The barrier can be secured in both the raised and lowered positions using the supplied padlock.

This allows the entrance to remain open during periods of authorised vehicle movement or to be secured when vehicle access needs to be restricted.

A 60mm long-shackle external padlock with three keys is supplied.

End Rest and Pogo Tip Support

A lockable end rest is supplied with the standard barrier configuration. This provides a support point for the free end of the barrier arm when it is lowered across the entrance.

An adjustable Pogo Tip Support is also available as an alternative where a separate fixed end rest on the opposite side of the entrance is not preferred.

The Pogo support rises with the barrier arm when the barrier is opened.

Site Access Barrier Dimensions

The barrier specification includes:

  • Pedestal and pole arm weight: 56kg
  • Pedestal size: 1110mm × 444mm × 300mm
  • Pole profile: 94mm × 64mm oval

Site Access Barrier Fixings

The barrier is supplied with:

  • M16 anchor shield bolts
  • M12 fixings for the end rest

The installation method and suitability of the fixing surface should be considered before installing the barrier.

Choosing the Correct Barrier Length

Start by measuring the vehicle entrance you need to control.

A shorter barrier may be appropriate for a relatively narrow access point, while the longer 5.5m, 6m, 6.5m and 7m barriers provide additional coverage for wider entrances.

Don’t automatically select the longest barrier available. Choose a length appropriate for the dimensions and layout of the individual access point.

Hire or Buy a Site Access Barrier?

Hiring can be a practical option when a barrier is required temporarily for a construction project, site compound or particular phase of work.

If you require a barrier for permanent or long-term use, purchasing may be the more appropriate option.
